Northwestern University Dance Marathon is the culmination of a year of fundraising, volunteering and educating by more than 1,000 students, faculty, staff, and administrators in a thirty hour dance-a-thon. Since its inaugural year in 1975, DM has raised over $10 million for various charities, and we are excited to be benefiting StandUp for Kids and the Evanston Community Foundation for Dance Marathon 2010!

Blurb: What better way to celebrate an entire year's worth of work in 30-straight-hours than by treating myself to a new look? Description: I will buzz my head. Why do you care about this nonprofit: (check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJqrKyWn5eI) | As you may or may not know, since last April, I have served on the Executive Board for Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM), one the largest student-run philanthropies in the country. This year's primary beneficiary is StandUp for Kids, a non-profit that assists homeless and at-risk youth around the nation. My time with StandUp and NUDM Exec has been one of the most demanding responsibilities I have ever undertaken, but one that has been more satisfying and enriching than any one experience I have participated in at Northwestern, potentially even my life. On top of the immense preparation our Executive Board contributes for an event mobilizing more than 1,300 people into action, we additionally self-select ambitious fundraising goals. It is with this reason that I write to you today, and with this reason that I ask for your help. This year, we have set a fundraising goal of $36,000 for our board, which proportionally equals out at about $1,700 a person. With only 10 days left until DM 2010, we are so close to reaching this stratospheric goal, but we need to make a final push. I ask you to please assist us in this manner and donate to NUDM and StandUp for Kids. I understand these are difficult economic times, but even a small donation makes all the difference in the world. Every $5 that is donated to NUDM is another food pack, another item of clothing, another meal for a homeless youth that they don't have to beg for. Every $5 that is donated to NUDM is another $5 we have raised in order to make the lives of such less-fortunate children that much better. That is why I am involved in DM, that is why I love what I do, and that is why I am able to gather the courage to ask you to donate some of your own hard-earned money toward this extraordinary cause.
